What is it?

TEC (University of Engineering and Technology of Peru) made a very exceptional billboard in Lima with an additional feature. This billboard produces drinking water from the moisture from the air. This water is collected, purified and goes into a reservoir. This reservoir provides about 9450 liters of water in three months in Lima, Peru, bordered to the north by the driest desert called Atacama. Despite the drought, the humidity in the morning is 98%. The population drains the drinking water produced by condensation for their own use. Now they also use these billboards along highways during the hot months of summer. Through this kind of technology UTEC also attracts many more students, clever.

Why is it cool?

This iniative is cool because this billboard provides fresh drinking water in a dry area. Due this invention, people in the area now have clean drinking water. It is also very durable because the moist air never runs out. This billboard enhances the quality of life of the people in this area. They are healthier because fewer people suffer from dehydration, so it improves the physical wellbeing.

Why has it future growth potential?

I think this way of advertising certainly has potential to grow. Its a commercial world where we live in today, but we also want to take the condition of the environment and the population into account. There are a lot of places in the world where people are suffering from dehydration, this could be the answer. And besides, its a fantastic way to advertise because normally people always have a suspicion about advertisement but now its used for a good purpose!
